Year 9 Mathematics – exploring pythagorean theorem

In this activity, students were assigned the task of apprentice builders. They needed to create a tool that could be used to make a right angle from the materials they had on hand. Students had several different lengths to choose from. They then used Pythagorean theorem to verify they had successfully created a right angle. Some students were surprised to find that what they thought was a right angle was not quite right (pun intended).
