What’s life all about?

I’ve always been a bit quirky and a bit of a geek. I am interested in a wide range of topics including the following.
STEM
My first passion in science is biology. I have a monster vegetable garden! I also love cooking – particularly the challenge of making multiple dishes at the same time. I love learning about the world around us. I’m interested in how things are made and what makes them tick. I love patterns and I love solving problems, particularly difficult ones that don’t have easy solutions, like what infinite means.

TECHNOLOGY AND BUSINESS
I’ve worked in business and accounting for a long time and I do enjoy it. I see my role as a translator and a story teller. I have some dry numbers and the business owner wants to know what they mean. It’s great to turn the numbers into something meaningful that supports decision making. I’ve also got a talent for system implementation and I have been involved in many new system roll outs. I enjoy this work, identifying ways to streamline menial tasks to free team members up to work on more interesting and exciting work. I really enjoy excel. It’s the most useful and under-utilised program in business.

PHILOSOPHY, PSYCHOLOGY, LEARNING AND TEACHING
Life is so profound and people are so endlessly interesting. Our capacity to repeat patterns in story telling to try to make sense of it all really fascinates me. I have always been interested in the brain – I was listening to audio books about learning well before I began to study teaching!
WHAT ELSE?
In my spare time I love to line dance with my friends!
